As a Community Engagement Manager, Emani leads the creation and implementation of four regional collaboratives across Chicago, bringing together parent leaders to organize collectively. Emani also expands K1C’s relationships with community-based organizations, schools, and faith-based institutions in Chicago’s Northwest, Southwest, West and South sides. Additionally, she co-facilitates Kids First’s work on designing quality early childhood education and supports parents in advocating for their priorities as Chicago transitions to an elected School Board.

Prior to this role, Emani was a Senior Community Engagement Coordinator at Kids First Chicago, where she organized community meetings, presentations, and events, while also establishing and strengthening relationships with diverse stakeholders. Emani has a proven ability to identify and train new leaders and a deep commitment to educational equity.

After graduating Proviso Math and Science Academy, Emani went on to study sociology and philosophy at Illinois Wesleyan University. Emani Johnson is a dedicated community engagement professional, who has worked closely with youth throughout Chicago, supporting them with accessing quality education and housing options.
