Daisy currently serves as Program Manager for the Parent Leadership Fellowship. The Parent Leadership Fellowship (PLF) is a 9-month program designed to activate the individual and collective power of Chicago parents to advocate for equitable, high-quality public education for every student in every neighborhood. She works with educators and community leaders to successfully bring relevant and engaging content to our fellows.

Daisy also holds a certification as a Racial Healing Practitioner through Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) Greater Chicago. Through TRHT, Ms. Carrera plans and brings about transformational and sustainable change to address the historic and contemporary effects of racism. TRHT has hosted thousands of convenings about race, wealth, arts, culture, health, safety, education, and opportunity.

Daisy comes to K1C with 7 years’ experience in a PreK-8th grade public school setting, where she created a variety of programs, projects, and initiatives for students and families in need in partnership with administration and community leaders. She has sponsored different student clubs, facilitated professional development for staff and hosted free supply, food and holiday drives to support students and families.

Daisy is a graduate of Western Illinois University. She enjoys working out, bike riding along the lakefront, tennis, time with family and friends, and all things summertime Chicago.
