STRATEGY Area 2
SHAPE POLICIES THAT PUT KIDS FIRST.
When structures get in the way of high-quality education, we use parent feedback to change those systems. We focus on “kids-first” policies that support fair access to educational opportunities, fairer funding, and transparent school quality information.
All students and families in Chicago deserve equal access to high-quality school options close to home. The process of researching for, applying to, and enrolling in schools shouldn't be more cumbersome for some students than for others. We support policies that remove barriers to enrolling in high-quality schools.
A fair and transparent method of measuring school quality is critical to making school choice work for families. We work with the district to implement these policies, and we support families as they navigate to high-quality schools, giving them resources to easily digest school quality information.
School funding should be fair, regardless of school type or neighborhood. Even more, students should be supported based on their specific needs, so that all students can thrive.
