We believe that all kids deserve a World-Class School that prepares them for success in life. In elementary school, this means students leave well-prepared for high school. In high school, this means students are ready for the post-secondary path of their choice – either college or career.
When structures get in the way of high-quality education, we use parent feedback to change those systems. We've learned from parents that what they care most about is easily enrolling their kids in high-quality schools, feeling confident that they can access and digest school quality information, and that their child has the resources that they need to succeed in school.
We focus on “kids-first” policies that support fair access to educational opportunities, fairer funding, and transparent school quality information.
Measurements of school quality should be applied consistently across all types of schools, and school quality levels should be communicated and made accessible to families. CPS adopted the current school quality framework in August 2013 for the 2014-15 school year.
Not only must our framework for understanding school quality be fair, but parents should have fair and transparent access to school performance information. We create digestible content in both English and Spanish to help communities better navigate school quality throughout Chicago.
