As the Senior Grants Manager, Sam is responsible for managing all matters related to grants and institutional giving, including corporate partnerships, foundation grants, and public funding opportunities. He works closely with the development team, senior staff, and board members to build relationships that support K1C’s mission to improve education for Chicago’s children.
Sam previously served as a Research Manager for the University of Chicago’s Education Lab. There, he was responsible for supporting the implementation of a large-scale social policy experiment designed to test the effectiveness of high-dosage tutoring in schools across the United States. Before this role, Sam served as a development and research assistant at Brookings Institution.
Sam holds a Master of Public Affairs degree and a Bachelor of Science in Community & Nonprofit Leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He currently serves as an alumni mentor for UW-Madison’s School of Human Ecology, helping young professionals navigate career paths in the nonprofit sector.
Sam was born and raised in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, located 30 minutes east of Milwaukee. In his free time, Sam enjoys reading, biking, and watching sports with family and friends.
