Special Info. Session: Protecting Chicago’s Students and Schools Amid Federal Threats

Location: Virtual

Audience: General Public, Parents

Category: Info Session

Kids First Chicago, The Resurrection Project, Advance Illinois, and Educators for Excellence-Chicago invite you to join Part 2 of our public webinar series on how recent federal actions are reshaping education—and what they mean for Chicago families, schools, and communities.

The Trump administration’s increased immigration enforcement and growing legal attacks on race-conscious programs are creating new risks for students and public schools across the country. In Chicago, these actions threaten both the safety of immigrant families and the future of critical initiatives like the Black Student Success Plan.

This event will focus on two important issues:

  • Federal immigration actions and how increased enforcement, legal challenges to birthright citizenship, and the rollback of humanitarian protections are affecting student enrollment, attendance, and well-being.

  • Attacks on race-conscious programs and what they could mean for local efforts like the Black Student Success Plan, which is designed to improve outcomes for Black students across CPS.

The program will begin with a short overview of each topic, followed by a panel conversation featuring parents, educators, and school leaders who are experiencing these challenges firsthand. We’ll spotlight how federal policies are reverberating in Chicago’s classrooms and communities—and what it will take to support our students during this period of uncertainty.
